Default Header install...

My step dads looking to get a set of lt's for his c5 and I told him I'd be able to do the install more than likely. I've got plenty of experiance working on f-bodies, I've had just about every nut or bolt out of my ta during the engine, tranny, and rear end swaps, figure a vette will probably be a bit more tricky, but I was wondering if there were any good articles on the subject or if anyone had any tips?

They're super easy from what I can tell. I had mine up on a lift changing the catback and looked at the header idea. Looks simple on a lift if you can borrow one.

The header swap is pretty easy. Had to change my drivers side out on jackstands and it was a bit of a nuisance but not tooooo bad.

Looks harder than doing an F-body?

LG's are pretty easy, but most Kooks can be a PITA. You need to lift the motor up and take the starter out. Before I worked for a shop I did mine on the ground in my garage, just might take some time the firt time.

Agreed, my 1 7/8" Kooks required a pry bar to tilt the engine plus a rubber mallet to get the passenger side in. Then again, I had my Maggie touching the cowl so it might be easier on a NA car being able to tilt it slightly more. Definately a 2 person job for that. It's worth it though.

good luck

My LG's that I had went in from the top, both sides, rather easily. I fought for 12 freaking hours on a customers car to get 1 7/8 Kooks installed. Couldn't get the car high enough on jackstands so we had to make them go in from the top. That was fun. American Racing headers are supposed to pop in VERY easily from underneath.....it's just a matter of getting the clearance if you're on jackstands.
