Have you considered going with an automatic? There were a few at the latest Z06fest. One in a TT and one in a 00 FRC that had gone through several rear ends and exploded a clutch. If you do go with the C6 rear consider a shield around your clutch because a clutch coming apart is a very dangerous thing and 1000hp is some serious power...

JR, are you also running a FLP 4L60E or have you done the TH400 or 4L80E conversion?

I am in complete agreement with you on the safety issue involved.I installed one of the first quicktime scattershields for C5s in my car.To date I have not exploded a rear diff but I am only cutting 1.69 sixtys.

Do the C6 swap....keep it a manual, throw on a kevlar blanket... and do it to it.

I plan on doing something like this at some point as well...but i'm more interested in the ZR1 ratios.

I have one on my car. It's real nice. Has an aluminum plate to completely contain the clutch. Had to grind a little on the driver's side to fit the Kooks headers.

I had to grind a little to get the bleeder to line up without putting pressure on the fitting. It seems like a very stout piece, and well worth the cost in the event the clutch decides its done playing this game ! Oh,and my swap is progressing nicely, here are a few pics for comparison sake. Here are the two housings side by side,C5Z and C6Z.

Well my C6 Z06 rear swap is going to have to wait for awhile. I went to a track rental at MIR and one of my turbos ate itself. I figured it was a good chance to upgrade and pick up a new set. They are sweet with stainless turbine housings. Anyway they are borg warner from a non supporting vendor so I can't post a link. As luck would have it my clutch slipped big time for the first time. Now I am going to go to a twin disc. Needless to say my play money has run out for now. Can you just swap the trans output shaft on the 6 speed trans? I saw were you could do it on the auto.

Dragman that is exactly what I am trying to avoid. The way I see it, if you dragrace enough you will spend the money on a good setup or repairs.

I did have 5 yrs of racing on that setup. I am going with C5 three rib case with DTE brace as my car only goes 10s.

Too bad you didnt have the brace on it,it would have saved the trans case.Usually when it breaks like yours it bends/breaks the end of the output shaft regardless. Oh,and I can make you a deal on a clean output shaft and tailhousing for your trans.PM me if your interested, they are out and ready to ship !
