Default Short shifter makes a difference?

Can a short shifter make that much of a difference? If it does, how much difference can it make on 1/4 race or a freeway run?

IM quite interested myself on this one. I used to have a Band M short shifter but it snapped in half after 7-8000 miles of usage and went back to the stock one. Has held up fine since even with a trip to the strip thrown in.

Had one and hated it. Way to much effort required to change gears.

Pro 5.0 with Lou's short stick is the setup i am referring to. Also had a WS6store on the stock hurst shifter

I went back to the stick that came with the Pro5.0. I think taking about a half inch off that one would work out best. The lou's only stuck out of the console about 3 inches, and it felt like a toggle switch more than a shifter, and it was hard to engage. Fine if you are drag racing only, and slamming it hard, but not fine if you want to drive it as a regular car often. My opinion anyway.
