Default First track visit

Went to the track for the 1st time this weekend. Car is 98 trans am m6 with bbk longtube headers, magnaflow muffler, and slp lid

My best run was against a 2001 ford lightning:

60ft: 2.31
1/8th: 8.72
mph: 77.64

Does this mph look a little slow? It felt like everytime id shift to 3rd it would bog down for a second before starting to pull again. Idk what could be causing that. If anyone has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

I have never gotten into the 1/8 mile tracks, so I do'nt know if that is a good time or not. I have never been to a drag, but I plan on going in September.

Anyone else know what an 8.72 would be in the 1/4 with his mods? I'm interested.

The time slip doesn't give a 330. It gives a 594 ft time of 8.14. Yeah i thought the mph was off too. I think it has to do with when i shift to 3rd it bogs down at the beginning of the gear

When my car had the same mods as yours (minus an LS6 intake) it was trapping between 86-88 mph. Something definitely seems off, even if you were in terrible DA.

Yeah I agree. I'm gonna try to go again next weekend to see if i can do any better. I ran 6 or 7 times and never broke 80 mph.

When I ran a 8.72 my mph was 83 with a 2.0 60ft. My 1/4 mile was a 13.38@105

8.72 works out to about 13.6 in the quarter. That mph is slow.

Work on your 60' 1st. The MPH and 3rd gear bogging looks like your shifting too soon. Try bringing the RPM closer to your rev limiter before shifting next time. It just takes practice. IMO, your times aren't that bad considering its your first time out, but there is a lot left in that car.
