Default need help at track

Alright so I've been to the track twice and have made a total of 14 runs in the eigth mile. It was my first time on the track so my numbers I know won't be the best, my car is a 2000 z28 a4 with 3.23 gears, y pipe, exhaust, c5 wheels 245/45r17 up front 295/35r18 out back (Nitto invo) the cars lowered 1.5 Inchs and has 192k miles all original. My best time was a 9.48 sec run launching from idle. My runs at any rev were 9.5 and up. My question is does this sound reasonable for such a high mileage car ? Or how should I be launching or any tricks to get moving quicker

seems down on power to me. My buddies 01 with 170k miles went 8.78 stock. Where are you from, density altitude has a lot to do with the way a car runs

Does your car have traction control? If so, did you have it turned off? Is the car spinning bad or bogging off the line? What was the 60ft time? What was the mph at the finish line?

The asr was turned off. And the car isn't spinning much if any, the 60ft was 2.27 reaction of .8 and finish speed was 77.74 mph

The 60ft seems to be about 2/10s off, most stock cars should be able to pull around 2.0 60ft time. Also, the mph is down about 5mph or so. I would think you should be trapping in the 83-84 mph range.

Seems that you are down on power for some reason. Has the car had its plugs and wires changed any time recently? Just wondering why it doesn't trap higher mph? DA should not have been too terrible at that temp even with higher humidity, not idea but definantly not killing you too bad.

It has been 3 years since spark plugs and wiring has been changed it's next on my list of maintenance then I'm pitting coil overs on it because my shocks are worn out I can hear the front ones creeking going up hills or speed bumps

Yeah, I would do an overall good tune-up with new plugs and wires. There is a product (seafoam) to do a top-end cleaning that helps reduce the carbon buildup in the combustion area, BUT, I don't know if I would do that to an engine with that many miles.

Always make sure you are getting 100% throttle opening ( make aure floormat is not getting under pedal} and see where your shifts are taking place( hopefully around 5800-6000 rpms. Make sure your not letting up on the throttle any at all.

I could see losing some performance with close to 200K miles, but I think you may have some other factors going on.

Good luck with your next outing.

If you have or know someone that has tools to do a compression check on the engine when you have the plugs out, even better a leakdown test . Would give you an overall idea of the health of the engine.

When I got the car it originally was hemorrhaging oil badly and since I replaced the intake seal, rear main, and oil pan gasket. The engine no longer bleeds oil but burns roughly a quart between changes. I'm using mobile 1 fully syn high mileage 5w-30 with fram hm filter. But Il see if those things can be checked during tune up. I also have all new pillows, motor mounts, upgraded alternator, new starter, and I have a question about my air box but Il need a picture. It looks like the first owner took the stock one and turned it into a slp one.
