Default First time at the track.help with launching

I just had my first experience at the track and wanted to know if my times were comparable to other h/c cars. I ran 3- 12.5@113 and 115 mph with 2.00 60fts and 1- 12.2@115. The only problem i had was launching. On the three 12.5 the tires would spin off the line and then bog and then on the 12.2 they spun almost all the way through 1st. I have 315 bfg dr and could only launch at 3,000 rpms. any advice would help.

what kinda pressure are you running in that tire . and are you still on a stock 10 bolt. 18 to 19 psi on mt et streets works well of the line for me at 3500 dump but i wouldnt advise that with a 10 bolt . i do it becouse i know it will be changed as soon as it goes boom .

I would say, for you your best bet with a DR is using tirespin and clutch slippage (if you can) to your advantage. Thats what I do and i've have pretty good results considering my mods and elevation. Also, I would try about 18 psi in the tires and see how it does, then go up or down from there. A controlled spin is much better than a bog.. as shown by your ET/MPH you stated when you spun thru 1st.

I control my clutch/tirespin to cut mid 1.7 60' times on DRs with a stock 10 bolt and LS6 clutch, and I leave usually above 5000 rpm to get it to work right (with 4.10's).

I have a spec stage 3 clutch and stock 10 bolt. I ran the 12.5's at 26 psi and lowered it to 19 when i ran the 12.2. I was just revving ther car to about 3000 rpms and then dumping it and nailing the gas. I think i will have to experiment with slipping the clutch more. What rmps range should i try if i am going to let the clutch out a little slower and should i be worried about burning up that clutch.

With that clutch and a stock 10 bolt you will probably need to use more tirespin since that clutch isn't as easy to slip. You could try running 20 or so psi and leaving slightly harder than before, just try to control the slippage of the clutch the best you can, and try to control any tirespin to your advantage. The main thing you will have to do is practice alot to get it down, a new rearend with a set of 4.10's would help alot too... lol

The key to the clutch slippage is to just slip it just enough to take the shock off the drivetrain. On my car.. it almost sounds like I dump the clutch.. you will know if you did it too fast or too low because the car will most likely spin or bog.
