8.8 at 90 mph why?
8.8 at 90 mph why? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how come i can only run an 8.8 in the 1/8th at 90mph exactly I dont spin really bad, 60ft is 2.2 I see stock ls1 hit that all day but not as fast. I have tried easing it off the line and dumping it multiple times. I have a new factory clutch but i am on 245 50 16 street tires with 3.42 but still i dont spin all that bad just threw first in 2nd it grabs. I have mods MS3, FIPK, Headers and Exhaust, ported TB, Timing Tuner and other small mods. Should gears and drag radials put me at lower times? Any help would be appreciated.

you need the following:
1. new clutch that can handle the power of a cammed lsx motor and master cylinder
2. a good set of rear tires so you can 60' quicker, try to go alittle wider than 245.

You need a clutch, 4.30 gears, slicks, and a 9" rear. Dump the clutch at 6K.
The 3.42's aren't letting you get into the powerband soon enough. That's a cam that likes to rev, and you aren't letting it do that.

My car is an oddball as well. I cut 2.1 60fts but cant better than a 8.9 in the 1/8th and a 13.6 in the quarter. I see cars cut a worse 60ft say 2.2 and 2.3 and trap lower than me but have a faster quarter mile, go figure. I shift as fast as the car is gonna let me, even powershifted and didnt change ET.
M6 is hard to get off the line without bogging. Is the car bogging at all? If so, that is killing your 60' time. It will take alot of suspension tuning, tires, right gear ratio, clutch, and practice to get a great 60' with an M6.

My A4 ran 8.04 at 90mph on friday with crappy 1.95 60fts. A looser converter will get me deep into the 7's. If you spin out of the hole and short shift into second that cuses the motor to bog down and takes a long time to pull back into your power range, that's what's tough about manuals and crappy tires.
