buttttt.....
it was at bristol its uphill and d/a was probably 4000+ that day....i knew the car was down on power...had the car i think 2 days before racing it...had a new car"well new to melol" wanted to see what it would do...

well i checked everything out a few days later and found
plugs that had .100 gap"worn out"
I could hold the paper filter into direct sunlight and see darkness "after beating dirt out of it".
had dirty mass air,and bad knock sensor, and a set of msd wires that looked like they came over on the mayflower...

all of that and the car trapped damn near 100mph...

as I and others said above tune it up and get a scan...most autozones scan for free...
the ses light does not have to stay on for there to be codes...the pcm stores them...

good luck

Did you hit the brakes early? If the car runs good, thats could be it. Your bang on the shifts could be the tranny mount if your trans is stock.

Thanks. Tranny mount is what I was thinking. I already tightened up the torque arm and it did no good.

Default did tune up

Well I changed all eight plugs and wires plus fuel filter. Took her for a test drive; she seems to have a bit more pep. Will be at track tomorrow night for test and tune. Hopefully the tune up helps. Will let you folks know the results.

If your not running close to 12's with gears you have a problem.

Well, got back from track last night. My times improved by half a second or so but still not in the 13's. I ran consistent 14.15's to 14.2's.

Here's my best slip:

60' 2.176
1/8 9.246 at 78mph
1/4 14.151 at 100mph

My launches were decent, I didn't bog nor light up the tires, and I shifted at 6K. I'm certain I didn't let off early. Given all that info, and the notion that my 60's aren't that bad, it seems like this engine isn't pulling hard enough the faster I go (3rd gear seems slow, in fact I hardly have to put it in 4th to get to the finish).

I think I'm going to check my fuel pressure today. Might have a burnt impeller, I know the guy before me said he ran it out of gas not long before he sold it to me.

Off topic, I did make it to semifinals (4 F-bodies in the semis) and lost to a LS1 Z28 due to a break out of .009. Damn I wanted that trophy!

Part of it could be the track since other fbody's are running around the same as you. I know how the heat and humidity can affect performance. I live in Panama City Fla. Which is probably very similar conditions to what you are running.

Sounds like you're getting the hang of it. I'm sure others will chime in here, but I am also just getting into 4th and about 4Krpm when I cross, BUT I'm doing about 107 to 109 when I do. I've got the Flowmaster 80 American Thunder catback (and I'm still running cats), so don't think thats your issue. I would say get tires/slicks. Stops chirping/spinning. You didn't say you have this, but you did say something about hard 1-2 & 2-3 shifts, so I expect you're spinning/chirping.

Keep it up!

Thanks. Tires do chirp on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, albeit slightly. The other f-bodies are running faster than me (mid 13's more or less stock cars). I was in semi-finals friday night and all four of us were f-bodies and I was the slowest (they showed me their slips). My 60's were as good or better than theirs but my e/t slower. I know I'm not letting off b/c I'm past the timeslip booth by the time I let off.
