I am the car on the right and finished first.

This was my first time 1/8 mile racing and was told in the booth
I lost because the other guy was closer to his dial. If this is how 1/8 mile racing works no wonder people don't like it. I still don't understand why the
ticket has him first by .0449

You were 8.781 dial in was 8.62
he was 9.717 dial in was 9.60
You were off by .161
he was off by .117
He wins by .044

Thanks and this just occurs in 1/8 mile racing, I believe, as I can't
remember anything like this in 1/4 mile.

i have been to package races on 1/4 mile tracks too. they just suck. it takes away all the skill involved in being a good bracket racer and adds in a bunch of dumb luck to compensate for those who don't know how to dial or drive their cars consistantly.

I'm a little confused on what 'package racing' you are referring to,

'Package' is the reaction AND the ET difference, it applies to any drag race.

the difference in a package race is that you can be red or go under your dial in and still win. because it si the best total difference between a perfect light and running dead on your dial that wins, not who gets to the other end first without going red or under like normal bracket racing.

I suppose there are some races like that, but thats not what happened to the first poster, he just flat out lost because his opponent ran closer to his dial in. Happens all the time, the car on the right didnt 'win' even though the driver thought he did.

I have no idea what this has to do with 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile racing though, here is what happened to me from the LSX shootout. I shifted from 1st to third by accident and it slowed me down a tenth or so. Even though I cut a way better light the other guy ran closer to his dial in and won. It was close at the end (I thought I won) but you can argue with the numbers. But in the end same thing that happened to the first poster so I'm a little confused still exactly why he thought he won..

It is called bracket racing. It happens at all tracks. 1/8th, 1000ft, 1/4 mile...
