pinion angle question For a T400 NEED HELP

Default pinion angle question For a T400 NEED HELP

OK I just installed a t400 with a brake. and had a new driveshaft made for my car. Im resetting the TORQUE ARM.
Here are my measurments. this car mostly sees the track

driveshaft end +1
bottom of driveshaft where the ujoints are the flat part +0.5
bottom of the T.A plate that bolts to the tranny -2
bottom of the rearend towar the back -3

any help would be great. also when tunning the car and driving it around there is a whinning noise comming from the rear. I check the grease and all is fine in the pumpkin. its only driving slow or turning. mostly turning. any ideas. I had a new steel driveshavt made. and the rear is a moser spool 12 bolt

I was alway told -1 to -2 on the pinion itself and not to worry about driveline angle. Just get the car in the air with suspension loaded so you can get under it, put your angle finder on the rear end yoke without the drive shaft in it and adjust the pinion angle. Thats it. Hope this helps you out.

yea I will give it a try was hooking awesome when I had the 4l60e so I dont know since I switch trannys and now my driveshaft is 4 inchs longer is it messed it up.

Measure your tailshaft angle on the transmission. For example let's say it's pointing down 2 degrees. Now set the pinion angle so after it rotates upward under power (generally moves up 2 degrees) the ujoints will be aligned. So -2 down tran = 0 degrees pinion so they are level under power. If the trans = -1 degree down, set the pinion -1 down so it will be +1 under power. If the trans is -3 down, set the pinion +1 degree up so it will be +3 degrees under power.....etc....etc.

Only time you would set the pinion angle down - 2 degrees, is if the trans is at 0 degrees.

+1, exactly what I was about to say... your pinion angle is always in relation to the driveline
