Re: Please keep in your prayers
My wife just talked to Joe and he is doing OK. He is at Lakeshore Rehab Center in Birmingham, Al. The loss of feeling on his left side is still ther but they are working with him on that. His spirits are still mixed. He hates being tied down and waited on by others, but then again he said "Don't count me out and think I'm done racin' yet". He also said the food there is so horrible that he sent a friend of his to get him some Crystal Burgers!!!!
Keep Joe in your prayers as we are, and I believe(hopefully) we'll see him at the Thunder Shootout.

Kristi, check Joe's internet providers website, I'm sure they will have a phone access number he can use. He needs to get on here and see all the stuff he's missing (suspension!) It will probably put a smile on his face. Get well Joe, and check out the other threads soon!

Talked with Joe today for awhile. He is doing rehab everyday. They are trying to get his motor skills back for his left side. He said even putting on a pair of socks is difficult because of the lack of function on the left side.
He was telling me that he would never wish this sort of thing on even an enemy. He has lost a wife and daughter, has a pacemaker and said, emotionally, this is worse than any of them. Serious wake up call he said.
He WILL be at the Thunder Shootout. I am renting him a golf cart and my wife will be driving him around for all his loyal fans, cough cough, to see him. LOL

Re: Please keep in your prayers
ust got off the phone with Joe. I printed out this thread and mailed it to him. He wants to thank each person that has responded and is thinking of him.
His emotions (from hearing it in his voice) are kinda down. Joe is so used to not being tied down and having to be helped for almost everyhing he does is drivin' him crazy. They won't release him from the hospital until they feel he can get by on his own at home. He told me they are working him HARD in therapy every day to get to that point. On a better note, he said the food is so bad there that he is now able to see the tips of his toes and he thinks now, he actually has a pecker, cause he caught a glimpse of it the other day. LOL
He's working hard to be able to come to the Thunder Shootout. I reserved him a golf cart at the track yesterday so my wife can ride him around so he can annoy everybody in person. LOL
