Default Burkhart Radiator setup for FI

We have been working on an AFCO radiator setup to work with our bumper support. We did the initial mockup this weekend and it seems to work out very well.

This is an AFCO radiator, Mezier pump, and our line kit. We can do these for a TA or Camaro setup.

Let me know what you think.

Thats pretty BAD *** Steve. If I were doing a FI setup, that looks like the way I would go. Nice work.

Would that setup flow enough for a street driven vehicle or is it really just race only?

Nice stuff Steve.

Ya know you're gonna put me in the poor house if ya keep coming out with stuff like this though

I don't think the fuel cell would fit in front of that, reaching the filler neck would be an issue.

I'm thinking about putting it in the trunk anyway and just putting a wolfe bulkhead in or the like at this point, might just be easier to do with a regular alum summit cell.

Let me ask this question, you would probably know.... if you cut out the upper support like that, and cut the cowl off at the windshield, can the motor/tranny come out the top together as one piece? That's what I want to be able to do if possible.

we pulled our motor and tranny out with the top core support and cowl in when it was a stock motor and tranny.....

It should flow well enough for a street car.

It would work with the cell. we are going to put my intercooler infront of the rad.

You could easily pull the motor and trans. I have done that with the stock stuff. The only thing we needed to do wa pull the balancer. With this setup it will be super easy with all of the accesories on.

That's what I want to be able to do, just unbolt the headers, driveshaft, unplug/unhook the electrical, unbolt the tranny from the crossmember, and then the motor plate and all out the top as one big assembly.

If you can get a picture of the radiator there with the cell/intercooler I'd like to see it, specificially looking down from the top, so I can see how I will be able to get to the filler neck.

I wish you guys were closer, your work is top notch. Next car I do, I might have to just gut the roller, and bring out midwest to have you guys do the work that I can't do myself (cage and this type of fab stuff)

Yes it is. You could run rubber isolators for a street application.

You could just box the remaining part of the radiator support in and be done with it with that setup too, no need to even bother putting a removable bar back in.

Think I found the way I'm gonna do my radiator over.

Steve do I need to send the support back to get that fabbed up? If so I can do that, just lemme know it will be a winter project.

My only concern is the weight of the radiator and the stress that the bungs will see. I love the way that looks, and moving it up like that would certainly make a ton of room in the engine bay for some other stuff that I'd like to eventually do, I just worry about the strenth of the bungs.

I was talking to my fab guy about some stuff like this, and he suggested making a set of cups out of a piece of square tubing, cut the square tubing into a small triangle, box the back side in so the radiator would sit down in the cups so to speak, this way the weight of the radiator is supported by the cup, not on a bung, similar to the stock lower radiator support, but instead of spanning the entire width, it would just be on the corners.
