Question Which shocks are best for drag racing?

What is your experience with these shocks (double adj.) and post pics if you got 'em shown with how they look on launch and/or going down the track. What TA do you run (shorter or regular length) and how much did a drag-launch "anti-roll" bar (rear) help you if you got one?

Afco
QA1
Strange

Afco's are the best but most expensive (offer you more adjustment options)

Qa1's get it done if you only need single adjustable (for double adj. may as well go Strange or afco)

The Stranges run just a smidgin more than qa1's but seem to work better for single adjustable.

Qa1's are most popular since they are cheaper.

Money being no option the Afco shocks with Strange coming in second. I have customer cars well into the single digit zone on both.

We are also a distributor for both brands.

AFCO is by far the best. The other 2 are never at the track with the capacity to rebuild, revalve, or dyno a shock. AFCO is at most of the major races and can do this. They are not that much more than the QA1 or Strange DA shocks either.

As for a TA, short is better. A short adjustable is even better.

The point of the Anti Roll Bar is dead level launch. From your description on the phone it would help. At a minimum, you need a BMR Extreem Drag sway bar. I think you are at the Anti Roll Bar point.

As far as opinion, neither are a bad choice, AFCO seems to be the **** compariatively.

I have a car hear with single adjustible QA1's running 1.3's in the 60 all day and no signs of needing a rebuild has to have over 100 passes at the track and some 1000 street miles.

I personally will be getting the QA1 for my street car.

For a track only car, race wolfecraft makes a quality bar but not intended at all for the street, I personally will be getting Spohn's largest swaybar that uses the poly end links. Just because I do want to corner.

Most people just follow the leader here on this board by going with Qa1.I went with the Strange DA up front because i know that the name is Quality products.I also have a SPOHN drag sway bar in the back, and the difference is night and day now,car leaves nice and level. Adjustable TA,long.I also cut the rear springs 1 1/2 to lower the rear, still on stock rear shocks(not for long) and i have gone a best of 1.37 60 ft,with this combo.

My first choice would be the afco's, but, I would ask what your goals are with the car, it is pretty respectable as it sits. I am sure you could benefit from a anti roll bar, especially with a torque arm car. It will help alot at the track, but if it is street driven it could be a serious problem as it would cause the car to be very tail happy, usually when you least expect it.
I use a stock length torque arm, with a anti roll bar I built and 60 foot mid 1.2's so take that how ever you want, but it works well.

I have QA1's all around. Been in the car for years, hundreds of passes and thousands of street miles-no problem, no rebuilds.
Stock lenght ta for me. Spohn bar.

Those aren't the only companies that make shocks for our car.....

I'm run Alston Chassisworks Varishocks double adjustables..... 16 adj for compression, 16 for rebound.... I personally feel the quality is better than AFCO and strange....

and they aren't anywhere near the cost of 2 DA rear afco's..... As soon as I put them on my car I had to figure out how NOT to go on the bumper.... A problem I would rather deal with than spinning....

If you are serious about having a sick car and want to go fast go AFCO, want to just have something fun, go QA1.
