tire size question

Default tire size question

This might be a stupid question but I need some help anyway.

When I took my car to the track this spring, I had on 305 35 zr18 Nitto DR's
The car is an m6 with a 12 bolt and 4.11's in it.

I had to shift into 5th before the finish line to keep it from bouncing off of the 6,500rpm limiter.

What size slick would I need to put on for it to give me the extra length needed to not have to shift that one final time?

Are you looking for something on an 18" wheel? Right now your tire is 26.4 inches tall, so you have room for a taller tire with no issues, but you might be limited by rim choice.

Turn that limiter up.

Bringing it up to 7,000 would give you about 134 before tapping the limiter on the current tire.

As it stands, its bouncing on 124 mph

I traded those for some prostars with some ET Drags but I dont think that they are very tall. I am going to measure them but they look about like 26's to me.

Check on some high growth tires (slicks). You keep the same gearing down low, but on top from centrifical force you have a high growth tire you gain some gearing for the top end.

I'v done this before with GoodYears and have worked great! I just don't know if they make a size that will fit you application.

On 15's you can run anything you want, just have to figure out what you need.

Would it hurt too much to just turn up the limiter to see where you cross the line at in 4th once or twice to see where you are at? What do you cross the line at in 5th? I'm guessing a 28" will work, you would be able to trap low 130's with that. What do you run now?

You will be just fine to turn that thing up.
