09 ET rule...
just got my new 2009 rule book and it looks like they changed the ET limit to 10.99
from Rule Book
ROLL CAGE
Roll cage mandatory in cars running 10.99 (*6.99) or quicker or any car exceding 135 mph. In full-bodied cars, with unaltered firewall, floor, and body (from firewall rearward, wheeltubs permitted), runing between 10.00 (*6.40) and 10.99 (*6.99), roll bar permitted in place of roll cage. In convertinles running 10.99 (*6.99) or quicker or exceding 135 mph, roll cage mandatory
Hmm?

This is reading the same as last years rules to me. I haven't received my new rule book, but post up the roll bar section too...
That basically says...
-Roll bar for 10.00 (6.40) or slower with factory Fire wall or Floorboards
-Cage for 10.99 (6.99) or 135 with altered Fire wall or Floorboards
-Cage for 10.99 (6.99) or 135 with any convertible whether stock Firewall and Floorboards or not
Explain to me how this is different???
The 11.49 rule is for ROLL BAR's not ROLL CAGES's. Big difference...

This is a link to NHRA's website with thw 2009 revisions to the 2008 rulebook. It says nothing about changing the requirements of when to install a cafe or roll bar. As I said, you misread this because it read the same as last year.

Read my post above. If the poster quoted the rules correctly, you are wrong. As long as you don't make extensive modifications to your firewall or floorboards you can have a roll bar in your car up until 10.00 (6.40) as long as you do not exceed 135 mph. You have to read the rulebook carefully...

No it doesn't that's why I asked for him to post the section regarding the roll bar, but seeing as how they haven't really made any revisions to the rule book per NHRA's updated list of revisions on their website, I am sure it is still 11.49.

To clarify this, the '09 rule book has no changes on roll bars/cages from the '08 book.
A 5-point minimum roll bar on a fixed roof car (t-tops okay as well if in place while racing) from 11.49 to 11.00 (7.00 1/8-mile). If the hardtop / t-top car has un-altered floors, firewall and frame rails (wheel tubs are okay), then the 5-point roll bar is good til 10.00 1/4 mile (6.40 1/8-mile). Convertibles require the 5-point bar from 13.49 (8.25 1/8-mile to 11.00 (7.00 1/8-mile). The roll bar can be bolted or welded to the floor, see diagram in the "What do I need" sticky for specs. Roll bar must be padded anywhere the driver's helmet may contact it while in the driving position. If the floor and/or firewall has been modified, then a full roll cage is required beginning at a 10.99 e.t. or any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). A roll cage is also required on any vehicle running faster than 10.00. The roll cage can be bolted or welded to the floor, see diagram in the "What do I need" sticky for specs. Roll cage must be padded anywhere the driver's helmet may contact it while in the driving position.
