Anyone Gone Fast w/ MSD Ignition Box???
Looking to throw a cheap setup together on my car. The motor is a 408 w/ 14:1 compression with plans for a lot of nitrous. I was thinking of using a carb and the MSD 6LS ignition box to just run the coils. My question is, how fast has anyone gone with one of these ignitions? Anyone into the 8's??? Post up!
Thanks!
Thanks!

I did some research on this exact same setup and was told by MSD that it wasn't a good idea to run the 6LS box if I plan to make that kind of HP and run those kinds of numbers.
So I'm running a MSD front mount ford distributor with the GMPP timing cover & ATI Balancer.. I have the MSD 7530 digital box and MSD hvc coil. Edelbrock Super Vic Intake and Holley 950 Ultra HP Carb. 13:1 cr and 2 stages from Speedtech..

Yeah I just called MSD and the tech I talked to didn't know anything about a front drive LS conversion. He said the 6LS was the only thing they had for carb setups with LS motors. I will have to call back later and hope for someone else.
How much power are you making? How much spray? Quickest ET?
Anyone else have any opinions?

Im building a nitrous engine with the GMPP distributor cover too... the 6LS box is a great "hot rod" LS1 swap box, definately NOT a hardcore race piece. Sure it has a 2 step, and step retard.... but not even close to a programmable digital 7 (7530T, 7535, 7531, 75301).

sure hope my msd 6010 works alright
Don't see how this could be any more inaccurate than a factory efi setup since it is using the same sensors and coils, so it should be up to the same task as a factory efi car. right?

Not only is it not a good idea to run the 6LS with those HP #s, it is not a good idea to run it at all! And MSD tech is useless. After MANY troubleshooting phone calls to them to try and figure out what was going on , they finally told me, "Well, I don't know what to tell you, good luck". I changed mine to the GMPP set up and it is fantastic.
Do some searching you'll find my thread about it about a year ago or so.
My 6010 couldn't even fire the car and I know a handful of people having the same problem and ditched it for a dist setup.
Save yourself the aggrivation and buy a dist.

not setting the world on fire, but ive been 6.50's 1/8 mile, and plan to go faster with my new setup on an MSD box.
the problem lies when you use an MSD box and a callies crank.
for a 300 dollar box, it does its job, just dont expect it to do more.
there are quite a bit of threads of people having issues with them. do a search before you make your decision.
