gutting the underside of the hood

gutting the underside of the hood i was wondering if anyone has done this and how much weight it takes out. ive been thinking about doing this is it worth it?

I've hole sawed the underside of my hood. Starting keeping track of the weight I took out, but then the bag got thrown out. Probably had 10lbs out at least. I didn't go too radical with it

Digging up an oldie here. How did the hood turn out ? Any tips or regrets?
I saw this mentioned on a feature car in GMHTP a few years ago. However there was not a good picture of it in the magazine. Definitely sounds like a good option for me as I like the look of a stock flat hood and don't want the trouble or expense of buying a fiberglass and getting it painted.
My plan was similar to the OP. Gut all the framework underneath except some meat around the hinge mounts and safety latch. Even considered getting rid of the latch and going with a pair if pins.

Was wondering if the hood would buckle or crease if too much support was cut out.
I have a flat steel hood on my car now and have cut out some of the bracing at the cowl area for my Super Victor and 4150 TB.
Wanting to cut a half arc out of the hood so the TB will be fully exposed. Half the TB is still under the hood.
