what studs?

DO you already have the axles and you're changing out, or are you ordering new axles? Either way, get the 3" x 1/2" studs if you're running Welds.
Also, if you're changing studs in axles you already have... a press-in 3" x 1/2" stud will need a .610"(39/64) hole for the knurl.

Tack car or a street car that will only see a drag rim I'd put 5/8 on and be done with it once and for all.
You can have the axles drileld so you can run a 1/2 inch or stock sized stud, and a 5/8 stud as well, just have to have moser drill them for you that way... then you can change them to whatever you want. Seen that done a couple times.
