I always heard 1/10th = 1 length. So 10 lenghts.

Id be willing to bet its closer to 6-7 lengths given 1 second, Having someone with a camera at the 1/4 mile mark is the real indicator.

Once you go beyond 3 lengths, you start calling it bus lengths
