Why switch to 4th on a t56?
- 6336 rpm @106
- 6456 rpm @108
- 6576 rpm @110
- 6695 rpm @112
- 6815 rpm @114
- 6934 rpm @116
all the calculations were done with a 25" tire, 3.42 gear and a t56
so unless you got a car that goes faster than 116 in the 1/4 wouldn't you be better of making the engine handle more rpm than to put gears and
shift to 4th
i ran 13.3@106 last year with switching to 4th if i stayed in 3rd it might of been better
what do you think
thanks matt
106 is the longest I would leave it in 3rd going by what you listed as long as we are talking stock heads and cam.

that's what i mean if you put in a better cam, springs, pushrods, tune maybe rockers
what could a ls1 turn rpm wise?
) but I think it was @ 6000 RPM.Shifting into 4th hurt the ET, on THAT combo.

i totally agree i just don't want to put a gear in a 10 bolt its weak enough as it is and there's no funds for a better rear
thanks
