From what I understand that intake elbow doesn't really perform that well compared to the sheet metal version.

Depends on the elbow, but I'd like to know what some of these sheetmetal intakes are actually flowing...

From Edelbrock:
flow is 860cfm @ 20.5" h2o . Our taller versions flow more air; #3848 (950 cfm) and 3849 (1,050 cfm) with a 90mm throttle body.

Well i pretty much hated and didnt know the Edelbrock had a dividing plate inside the damn elbow?! So i just ordered one from Aaron@intakeelbows Paid a little for it but it should be worth it in the end!

Why did the divider bother you? I actually like the fact that it's there. The fact that most all sheetmetal's don't have it bothers me more. Check out this view from edelbrock of divider vs. no divider.....yea, I'll take the divider, haha. Plenty of people out there happy with the Aarons though, so you can't really make the wrong decision there!

The sheet metal elbows gain up to 40hp compared to the edelbrock. Why don't u just put a 4 barrel.

Cool illustration but as far as the divider goes, I think it's only in there because the back of the elbow lacks a good angle down into the intake.
The sheetmetal one's I've seen kind of sweep up from the tb so you don't get all that air hitting the back of the elbow at a bad angle, instead it directs the air down and back forward a bit.
From that illustration the divider looks like a band aid for a bad initial design.

Definitely the best option here is a 4barrel. If i was N/a or nitrous, I would be running that. It's a no-brainer (if you have the fab skills to mod the cowl to fit it)

to answer your question, no it will not fit. the only tb that will fit the edlebrock elbow is the 90mm they make. some others might fit but i know the ls1 tb does not fit.

posted this so other searching will have a answer

100% true. I have the edelbrock elbow with a holley 90mm right know, and i had to do some drilling to make it work. The top 2 bolts will go in fine, but the bottom 2 are offset to narrow on the TB. Just drill out, buy a few 2 inch allen headed bolts with screws and problem solved, not hard.

As far as the elbow goes for design, I am convinced that the elbow is a quality piece that will hold up just as good as any 400+ dollar sheetmetal elbow. Save you money, and use it elsewhere. 40HP gains.......

i was using an edelbrock elbow (part #3849) with a FAST 90 throttle body so i dont see why a nick williams wouldnt work. bolted right up. actually the guy i sold my intake and elbow to is running a nick williams on it.

I would be intrested to see someone use the 4 barrel style with a carb hat.... blow thru guys do it that way all the time and they have NO problems making power. With no intercooling (love the carb for that)

we are talking about #3847 (the one that fits without any cutting).

I was refering to the #3848. Not the low profile one that gets smashed in the back. And with a little bit of cutting to the plastic sill, the 3848 WILL fit under a stock ws6 hood.

either way they should all have the same throttle body flange on them.

I had to drill and tap holes for the bottom two bolts on my fast TB.

I'm also not seeing a 40 hp gain between this and an aluminum elbow... maybe 5 or so, but what does it matter when I just make up for it with "extra flow" (read bigger pills in the carb plate).
