NHRA Question

Just starting to get into drag racing, so sorry for what may be a dumb question. I was watching the races out of St Louis this weekend and I swear they were only running 1000 ft total distance. Am I missing something or have things changed recently?

Scott Kalita died last year at Ohio so till the tracks can modify the shut down distance they went to 1000 ft for saftey....some track have very little shut down areas

The 1000 feet distance is only for top fuel dragsters/ funny cars probably top alcohol also.

Yep just for the nitro classes. NHRA is working on a completely new "Spec" engine to be implemented in the future. 414 ci, only a 8-71 blower. Stuff like that to slow them down considerably.
