Default 1st run with TSP231/237 cam...

Tonight was the first cool night of the year down here and my buddies flew in from out of town to go to Homestead this weekend for the Cup race on Sunday, so we decided to take the car up to Moroso Speedway and see what the latest cam setup would yield.

This was my final (of 3) run of the night vs. a friend of mine in his 1st gen. Big-Blocked Mach 1.

I had a slight bog on the launch (only 3000rpm due to stock 10 bolt and clutch), he got the jump (awesome reaction!), and the rest was a 1 to 2 car length race with me reeling him in at the very end.
I shifted at 6400 throughout. Cam holds its HP peak from 6250 to 6700, but I'd rather not go that high, so there's a little left in there. Torque peaks at 5000 with the cutout open.

My time on the left.
Mods are full intake/exhaust bolt ons, Nittos, 4:10's and TSP231/237 cam on stock heads.

I shift my c1 cam at 6600 and leave at 4500 on Nittos. You have a lot left in it. It's always fun trying to get alittle quicker though. Nice runs

AintSkeered, I used your advice and held rpms at launch clutch dump, waited for forward progress, then accelerated. This produced a slight bog but netted a better 60' (1.8xx) than my other launch (which actually felt smoother and quicker at 1.9xx).

bring the rpms up to 4000 and try the same thing , it gets easier and smoother with a little more rpm's. Once you learn to leave on Nittos, It is quicker and easier on parts than et streets. Et streets , you have to leave at a higher rpm and the car will make more mph on Nittos. Not to mention drive more stable. To run the hardest a car can run will be done on slicks but in an all out effort. JMHO
Also , use that trick on the street and kick some *** . Do a burnout on the street as well.
