Default roll cage advice?

I was wondering if anyone has went with a rollcage from jegs or summit. Looks like they have some nice cages, just wondering what everyone thought about them. Its going into my fbody and it will be an 8pt cage.

I also wondering does anyone know if the swing out door bar kits are legal for NHRA rules, if so whats the max time you can run with them? thanks for any help guys!

I seem to remember a thread where someone installed the one from Jegs. I want a chromoly cage though so im going with the SOS kit from Kentuky Turbo.

Also I think if you are getting a roll bar(5 or 6 pt) Then the swing out is ok and I think they are good until 10.0. Past that and you need a cage(10 pt) and I dont think the door bars can swing out.

Thanks, just money is an issue with me and some of the cages were really going to cost me some money.. Jegs and summit cages caught my eye, but if they dont fit well Id rather spend more money and get a nice one. Ill try and search for a thread about a jegs or summit cage. also any good info on other brand cages would be appreciated, Im just going with mild steel also. My car is only going to be a low 10's car Hopefully, Dont plan on going any faster for a long time.

Its always good to plan ahead, thats what im doing. My car will hopefully hit a 9.80 but im caging it for an 8.50

The SOS moly 10pt cage is on sale from KY turbo right now for $800 shipped.

Otherwise if you are staying mild steel id look into a wolfe but I think the wait is usually a little while.

I had a guy local, from what I hear does good work. Only thing is he has never done a fbody, so I worry about that. He told he could do it for 115 a point, paint the cage, and install it including removing my interior. The bad thing is, I can weld and remove my interior, so thats a extra chunk of change that I dont need to waste.

well the bars mounted on the deck above the fuel tank we bent just because i lik it better and i believe the only other bends were in the pillar bars so with a 6pt you wont hav to worry. we had to do the most work on the pillar bars everything else was measure cut fit weld or cut a little more.

John, I have installed a few of the Jegs/Summit cages and they fit absolutely fine, especially for the money. I put one in my car too and I don't have any complaints. I can send you pics of one that I installed if you would like.

yeah, I would love some pics.

I did just talk to another guy in lexington that builds them, he sent me some pictures of his work, it looked very good. He told me $475 installed for a 6pt inlcuding him making the roll cage, dont know if I can beat that.

^thats not a bad price, yeah he has a lot of experience and looks like he runs a race shop for a career. I was given many pictures of cars he has done, they all looked very weel done and he bends them to fit the car how you want then.
