Default 3640lbs... Time for a diet!

Yesterday I was off work, Kinda nice day and havent got to drive the car, so I thought Id go have it weighed.. With me and almost a full tank of Gas, it was 3640. I have removed the spare tire thats it. Now its really a turd!! Car is a car I enjoy taking to car shows but also like to play around with it. Im going to a Pinks event as soon know, and Id like to get it lightened up a bit!

My thoughts:
Front Sway Bar..(already disconected)

Things Im geting or want to get:
Bogarts
Drag Shocks (Strange/QA1s have to be lighter than stock)
Narrowed Rear
ABS delete
Steering Wheel
Drag Breaks, K-member.. If Iv got the $$

How can the airbags be removed with out them going off in my face? Thought about them..

Seats and plastics are staying..

Anything else?

All our stuff is on sale. The airbags can be removed with the Bat disconnected. Also pull the fuses.

ozite carpet will save ya 30 lbs, and you'd never know the difference if you do it right. rear seats, center console (recarpet the area so it looks clean), remove the airbag module and all that, burkhart's bumper supports will get ya a good bit of weight out too, front end they sell is a TON lighter but that I wouldn't do for a street car, it's a little racy for that IMO.

There's alot of weight that can come out, radio and all the wiring is a good bit, hvac is alot too. Cruise, tcs, abs, manual master cyl, all depends what you want from the car and what can you tolerate.

I could probably live with new carpet and removing the airbags and such. Like you say on the bumpers, IDK about those, Are they safe for street use just incase?

I wouldn't say it would be any less safe but if you got into an accident there would be more damage to the car without the absorbing foam.

Just start with the carpet. You also can do a lighter weighted hood, There is a bunch of small crap you can pull off. Just go down the list and see what you can pull off and live without. The only thing that sucks is you start pulling stuff off your car. You will end up having a gutted race car lol and not a street car we have all been there. On the other hand you could just build a bigger nasty motor with more power lol.
Also if you drive on the street I would not do the bumper support replacement if you drive on the street.
I have one on my car and love it but it just goes to the track not on the street.

My 69 Firebird weighs as much as the fourth gens. Race weight is 3650, car, me and 1/2 tank of gas. Full interior, suspension etc. No spare, trunk is custom, no room.

Old cars aren't too light either.

67-68's are a bit lighter, the Camaro's and Firebird's go fatter in 69.

Mine was weighed on a state certified scale. Tell dad to line them up and run, that should be fun.

He will see why I have the 6.0L under my hood.

His runs pretty good for what it is, 12.90s on street tires with a Pontiac 461! Its really mild, small cam, pump gas motor, Makes 315 To the wheels through a 700R4..Its just a really nice show car but I talked him into racing it a few months back!! We were all blown away on how good it ran! He drives it all over, and gets awsome gas mileage too..
Id like to see a stall, gears and good tires and see were it goes then!

my car with me in it is 3490. I took out the front bumper support, ac, ps, rear seats, insulation, spare, and i'm putting a set up light race seats in. I can still take out a good amount more of weight. I'm 280 so the car is about 3200-3210 w/o me.
