Default How much spray?

So I'm running the NHRA Unleashed event at Indy next weekend and am running the 12:00 index class. The car has run a 12.37 and normally runs 12.50s in the heat.
How much do you think it will take to knock off .5 sec? I won't be spraying off the line or during shifts. The car made 414rwhp on a 75 shot.

Figure a 150 shot to be competitive...

I would say another 75(150 total) should get you really close. If you don't spray off the line you might need almost 200 to hit the 12.01 mark.

Seems like people are recommending a lot of nitrous to run only a 12.0... How much does your pig weigh???

50 hp should be near .5 sec in the quarter but that is if you are spraying off the line. since he isn't it will take 75 extra or so to shave .5 atleast.

If you're not spraying off the line you are wasting your time with N2O. The main purpose is to get the car off the line and to around the 330' mark. Torque is what gets it moving and that's what it provides, gobs of it in fact. A 100 shot off the line and you'll be at the 12.0 mark easy...

I'd say a 75 shot should get you close. If you're wanting to hit the 11.0's i'd say put in the 150 jets.

I understand I am leaving some ET on the table not spraying off the line but I'm looking to make the rearend last one more year then I'm planning on upgrading.

This is what I was thinking. I'll probably start with 100 jets and see where that gets me.

exactly, people are recommending a 150 shot. If it took a 150 shot to run a 12.0 in an LS1 I would burn it.

You dont need a 150 or 200 shot to hit 12.00, thats rediculous. When I sprayed my car with 100 shot (400 on the dyno) I went 11.70s@117 but I sprayed through the shifts.

Good to know...I was a little floored by people saying that i needed a 150 shot to hit 12.00. I'm heading to the track wednesday night to do some testing, so I guess I will find out then.

With a stalled a4 with h/c I run a 10.73@126 on a 150 shot. If the car hooks well out of the hole I think a 75 shot would cover you!

well guys if you notice he is trying to run as close to a 12.00 as possible without breaking into the 11s.

THATS why I say up the shot b/c your not gunna use it all the way through, that way you can use just enough to keep you right in front of the other guy... you will be competeing w/ guys running 12.001s which will be 11 second cars just letting out a little or short shifting.

I thought you mid 12s were on a 75 shot! Sorry

75 should easily get you VERY close to 12.0. I thought we were adding spray on top of a 75shot. Good luck.

Just to complete the thread. I put the 75 shot jets in it and locked out first gear (~2.8 sec into run) and the car went 12.38@112. Threw in the 100 jets and delayed the spray 1.0 sec into run and went 11.86@116. Long story short, the car went consistent 11.95s with about 1.4 sec delay off the line. I also cut of the spray for the shifts but that didn't seem to make much of a difference.

Yeah the race was this past weekend. Once i got the car dialed in it ran 11.95-12.00 all day. Until the second round (10:30 at night), the car picked up and would have run 11.88 and I lost on a double breakout.

Should have set your delay a bit longer as it cooled down. I guess info like this will help next time!
