strange 12 bolt and bumpstops?

strange 12 bolt and bumpstops? Are they needed for drag racing at all? My buddy has them on his car and I keep telling him to remove them at the track.. I think his car will hook better and ride out much smoother. The car is a 6 speed and usually cuts in the 1.5s but I think with them removed he will do better. Can anyone actually justify my statement and lmk as what to do with his car. other rearends might be about the same but im not sure
