Default New best at California Speedway

First time out to Califonia Speedway with the new setup and i was able to finally get into the 12's. I was only able to make two passes today, i was there from 1:30pm-9:00pm.....

1st Run: 1.816 60' 8.257@84.94 1/8 12.878@106.83 1/4

2nd Run: 1.828 60' 8.215@84.49 1/8 12.828@106.45 1/4

It seems clear from the last 3 times out to the track, traction is my biggest enemy. I pulled the front sway bar out, and had the slicks at 10psi today but i just don't think i'm getting them hot enough. Just when i finally get them smoking they are rushing me out of the burnout box. I spun out of the hole, spun 2nd gear, and chirped 3rd and 4th on both runs. I know the car is capable of more with traction, i was able to manage a 1.71 60' with a bit of spin before. Would a line lock and a 2nd gear burn out make that much more of a difference? I'm having a little trouble maintaining a high rpm during a 2nd gear burn off due to the "dump clutch, stab break" burnoff. I plan on a shohn torque arm in the near future, i believe the pinion angle of the rear may be off since the swap. Thanks very much in advance for any advice.

Nice Times...
I would think that you will benefit from a line lock with 2nd gear burn outs. What are you shifting at?

Thanks dude. I'm shifting right at 5500 on the tach, but probably closer to 6000 from what i hear about the tach being inacurrate. Do you have any recommendations for a line lock setup?

I think that there are several of them out you could either put up a post and find out which one is best.I think SLP has one but not sure of the price.I thought that your MPH seemed a little low now I think that you are shifting about 500 RPM to soon. When my car was stock I always shifted at 6k on the stock Tach.

Thanks Nine Finger. After inquiring a bit i found out the shift light really doesn't require any modification other than setting it up for a 4 cylinder car so i will be installing that asap. I think i've decided on the hurst line lock, but i've got a couple other problems to sort as well. Somehow with my wimpy 1.7-1.8 60' times i've managed to twist the torque arm that moved the driveshaft loop and in turn cut a little chunk out of the driveshaft. So I will be putting in an spohn TQ arm and a denny's nitrous ready driveshaft before i go out racing again. The car surprisingly drove fine on the way home from the track with a little chunk of the driveshaft missing.

On a positive note my tax return more than covers the parts and if there is enough left i think i'm leaning towards the TNT F1.
