Fuel Cell Placement Is it legal to have a fuel cell under the hood? I thought I read in rule book that fuel cell must be seperate from driver compartment and seperate from engine bay? I'm seeing people with cells under the hood.
Also you can run a fuel cell in the engine bay if there is a barrier constructed around it if I recall correctly.
MOST times most street racers take a chance and just remove the washer fluid res. and put it in the nose of the car.
If the cell is outside the framerails then you have to have a cage made out of 1 1/4" tubing around the cell.
You can put the fuel cell in the engine bay. Actually a good idea, it will keep the fire to one end of the car, should that ever happen, also makes a fire suppression system easier to install and deal with if you ever have to use it.
It's perfectly legal to have in the engine bay.
