Default no coolant

This is a better place to post this. Our 2011 street legal season is about to start, they cam with a new rule this year that we no longer can use the 'green'coolant because when it spill on the track it thakes more time to clean and dry. What else do u guys use or just water.

On inspection day they will open the radiator cap to see whats in there.

here is the link, see page 21: http://curacaodrag.com/myimages/down...ules2011v1.zip

Distilled water here, swap it for coolant in the winter so we don't have to worry about freezing.

I ran strait tap water, when I was in a pinch. Distilled water, add a little water wetter, and it's likly to cool the same, maybe even better, depending on how much of the wetter you put in it.

Water cools much better then antifreeze. Most people have this notion that antifreeze cools better then water and that is why we run it in our cars. It is put into a motor so that it doesn't freeze hence the actual name and to help slow and stop corrosion.

Water wetter for corrosion resistance and you will be all set. Distilled is best because it doesn't have all the chlorine and chemicals like tap water does.

Make sure you use some water wetter or something else to resist corrosion. Other wise you will be replacing your water pump and possibly other parts before you know it.

P.S. Stop with the gibberish! English only! hahaha

IS this just off the top of your head? Or do you have something lagit? I am pretty sure this would be a horrible idea because it is designed to evaprate rather quickly. Therfore I am guessing it's boiling point would be VERY low.

Again maybe if you have some info to support your suggestion I could be wrong but I am pretty sure this is a HORRIBLE idea.

Are you planning to return? On such a small island and you could not find the only dragstrip we have over here...... weird. You should had visit www.curacaodrag.com or just ask around. The difference is that here you wont see mustang and ls1, just a lot of honda's and toyota. And some muscle car's

Use it in all of our race cars year round and I do not have to worry about freezing. It is easy to clean up if it gets on the track. My proof is that I have been doing it for years.

Before there was Ethylene Glycol that is what was used. In the old days you had to have your car winterized. Part of it was changing from all water when the weather got colder.

Does it evaporate in your winsheild washer bottle? Evaporate in a closed system?

Read the statement below the line.

I will continue to use my "horrible" idea.

Sounds like it works but I think you might be the only person to do it. I have never heard this. I would stick with water and a currosion resistor. Not saying it doesn't work, nor that it is bad but I personaly will stick with what millions have done and proven over what very few may do.

Especialy since there is no benefit that I can see.

Many guys with races cars in cold climates do this. Our only positive is that I do not have to worry about freezing. It also saves having to worry if you got all of the water out of the block when storing the car in the off season.

You guys sound like you change over to antifreeze afterwards and continue to drive the car. If that is the case just use water.

I used to just drain the radiator and fill with antifreeze, run the elec pump for 50 min to circulate/mix it, for the winter, then in the spring time, I'd pop the drain on the radiator, and then just keep filling with a garden hose until it was clear coming out... then fill with distilled, when I remembered to get it. Once that was done, put a bottle of water wetter in and that was it.

Your washer fluid is a good and interesting idea, I don't know if the cooling effects are the same, and that would be my only concern about doing it.
