Default patching a 325 mickey drag radial?

i have a nail in my drag radial.. it is far enough from the sidewall to be safe to patch in that sense...

but would it be safe to patch for the track? i plan to go to the track soon and hope to better my last 60 foot.. (1.42's old best). is there any issue repairing a drag radial with a patch? would a plug patch be best or just a patch? thanks in advance!
