Question Coilover setup questions

I'm going to purchase a Strange coilover setup for the front and rear within the next two months. I have some questions:

How are coilovers on a car that sees decent street time over pot hole filled roads? Are they prone to breaking? Cars a pig @ 3800 with me in it.

After installing them do I have to take the car to get scaled and balanced?

How easy are they to adjust?

Any specific sponsors known to sell them for the best price?

gGot ya covered... We sell a ton of Strange and Afco shocks to the f-body community and have our own cars on them as well.

These shocks are obviously designed for drag racing, but if setup properly will handle just fine on the street, even if you hit some bumps. What you need for feel is different between each individual, but with the easy external valving you can make quick adjustments to get it where you like it. The Strange shocks have both adjuster ***** at the bottom of the shock, the Afco shocks have the extension valve on the top, the compression valve on the bottom.

Having the car scaled will be the best thing to help with the suspension setup, but is not necessarily critical. Best thing to do is set all the tire pressures and then make a note of the wheel opening heights off the ground. When you go to adjust the spring heights simply put the car back to the same heights as you measured, and then if you want to change it its easy to just adjust the front or rear shocks the same amount to get it where you like. If you have a good adjustable anti-roll bar like we offer, and coil overs, then the suspension preload is easy to set.

Give us a call when you're ready to purchase. We have the best deals on any suspension part for your car(too low to advertise), and usually in stock.

thanks ssvert. should be ready to purchase within the next two months so you'll be hearing from me. aside from the shocks and springs is there anything special i would need like reinforcement plates or special brackets? i do have an adjustable anti roll bar and adjsutable torque arm so i'd need to take the car to a chassis shop to get setup properly after the install.

I've been looking at these lately for the rear:

Not sure how many people run these, looks like a good setup.

Reinforcing plates are not needed for the rear coil-over conversion. I have ran them several seasons on my own car and several of our customers cars as well. There is about 3 or 4 layers of metal in the upper shock mount area. At most I could see using would be a good 5/8 id washer just for peace of mind, but we never have even done that. The QA1 shocks are ok... but bottom of the barrel for quality no doubt. Not only that, I can get you into Strange shocks for the same or less anyway. The Afco shocks are a bit more costly, but are also one of the best shocks on the market for theses cars.

We do offer a lower transverse shock mount kit that is much better than the one in the link above. Ours is a complete bolt-in and our design wont let the mount twist sideways and make contact with the shock body which will tear up the shock and cause a bind at the same time.
