What what point to you need a NHRA LICENSE? Do you need one for 8.50s?

9.99 OR over 135 mph. Either one requires a lic.

Download the medical form and get that done right away. Then go to an NHRA sanctioned track with two licensed drivers and tell the track officials that you want to run your license passes. You do a half pass, then three moderate passes and then two full passes that are 9.99 or faster. The two drivers sign off on it and then the track official. You pay money and poof you're licensed.

Don't forget every 2 years you have to renew your lic, and get another physcial at the same time.

You also have to maintain an NHRA membership too.

Generally, you don't have to bring 2 people to the track with you, usually there will be other drivers there that will be willing to sign off on your runs, which is what I did. If you know someone with a lic. as well, you can always have them sign it as if they were "there" as well.

Just make sure whoever is signing off on your lic, that they have a similar license or above what you are going for.

That's not true Jay... Any NHRA license driver can sign. I had an Alcohol Funny car driver sign for me.

My guess is a door slammer can't sign off for a top fuel licence? Just a guess but makes sence.

I am editing the abote post, according to the form, anyone that is signing off on a license run must have an equeal or above license.

It used to read (which I can't find anywhere) that the driver had to have a similar license by wheelbase, example a guy with a rail car license wasn't supposed to be signing off on a door car license, and vise versa. I can't seem to find it anywhere, but I am 100% sure that when I did my test in june of 2008 that the toower told me to find anyone that had a door car license and they could witness my runs, guys with dragster's weren't supposed to sign off on door car lic. runs, and that came right from LVD's tower the day I was doing my runs. It's possible that it could have changed.

they consider an alcohol funny car the same wheelbase as a regular door car...so they are above you in class, therefore ok. I had Adv ET holders sign off on my license.

As another example, if/when I go for my Adv ET licence, I'll need two A/ET, ProMod, or Funnycar license holders sign off on mine since they are at or above class

The thing I remember being the issue was wheelbase related. They told me not to have guys with a lic. for a rail car sign off, due to the difference in wheelbase.

I don't know why that was, I just did as instructed and didn't really dig into it. This was 3 years ago and my memory is pretty good but I'm trying to remember somewhat small details about the day, please humor me.

I looked it up.
This is how it's written on the application form...

2 currently license drivers of equal class or above or as appointed by the NHRA Division Director

I don't know the official ruling from NHRA on that.

I've been teched on my firewall in the past @ Atco. He pointed out a small mistake I made but didn't have anything to say about the HVAC. His concern was no openings whatsoever for fire to get through...

.024 steel or .032 aluminum, no open holes. We have the in stock and will be simple to do when we button up the cage and other things. Depending on where you go I'm sure I can help with getting your lic signed off too

you can look up the rulebook online at nhra, under et or general regulations (firewall section) as long as it's legal material and thickness your good.
