Yellow box under console

What is that yellow box under the console. Is it for the air bags? Will car run without it being hooked up? Removing all unnessery weight.

If there is a thick yellow wire going to it then yes it's for the airbags

airbag module and yes, it will run but your check/service engine light will glow. 1 or the other, can't recall at the moment.

It lights up your airbag light, actually (remove the bulb). Anything bright yellow is airbag related.

It will also throw your service vehicle light, not service engine. I'm not sure if i can pull that bulb as i don't know what all could trigger it.
