Default Torque converter reasoning question

Got a question for you fellas,, I am in the middle of my swap to my 4l80 and when it came to the converter I was told something I dont really understand. I have a 383 and I figured they would probably recommend a 3500 stall,,,But when I told then I was going to be spraying the car, They recommended a "tighter" converter. I would have thought that because of the spray an even bigger stall would be recommended as compared to a N/A setup. I dont doubt the builder, Im just curious as to why this would be. Thanks for any help understanding this.

If the converter is too loose, you'll blow through it and it will fill like a slipping trans. Deffinently a good idea to go off of what the builder says. Converters can make or break how the car performs

It will flash above the advertised stall when sprayed. How much will determine how high.

not to hijack but i told pi i was going to spray my car with a 200 shot off the line but plans changed and two years later and no nitrous. imo the converter doesn't hit the tires close to as hard as it should. is this because it was built that way to handle the 200 shot off the line?

Yes, it was built with 200hp/200+ft lbs more power in mind.

Have it cut apart and restalled and you'll be good to go
