Default Confused about battery rules....

As I understand it my battery that is located in the rear of the car must be in a vented battery box and have a kill switch wired in. As it reads though the battery can not be held in by the box and must be mounted to the frame? So would I need to add a crossbrace from the rear two frame rails to bolt the battery to? If so what size is needed?

I am trying to get my car legal for the track so when i turn up the boost i get to stay there and run instead of watch.

Thanks

It has to be securly mounted yes. There are several ways to do this. My car we built 2 pieces of 1/4 inch round bar in the t top well and put 1 piece 90 degrees across it, with asmall piece of 3/8 tubing facing upward. Set the moroso box on top of that, and ran 2 pieces of threaded rod up, and held the battery down with that, and a strap across the top of the battery. The box was drilled, for the 2 pieces of rod, the cables, and a vent tube.

If you want to just put the battery in the T top well, you could probably do the same thing but I would use a BIG washer to stop it from ever pulling thru the sheet metal in the event of a crash. I have seen that method used and pass tech as well.

I just want it to be right. I have a convertible, so space is limited. So if I ran a couple of 1/4 round bar across the frame rails then I should be ok.

I didn't even run them to any frame rail. I just spanned the t top well, fron front to back. Tech never said anything... they'll grab ahold of the battery box and as long as it's good and solid, they're happy.
