Post 2001 ws6 drag suspension

Hello all,

I have been trying to decide on my suspension setup for my stock 2001 WS6. The car currently has KYB-AGX shocks with Eibach sportline springs. I have decided that I want to get away from the street style handling suspension and go with a drag setup for next year. With budget not being an issue hear, I was looking into replacing the stock factory torque arm, rear lower control arms, front/rear shocks and springs.

My plans where as follows... Afco front double adjustable coil-over shocks with there 275pds. springs? Afco rear double adjustable shocks with factory rear springs. Have not decided on manufacture of the torque are, or rear lower control arms.

My questions was, does this sound like overkill with the Afco's? I know its the best shock out on the market but I was thinking that it might be overkill for my project and I might be better off with Strange components instead? I don't know. Hopefully someone can help me out or have suggestions on a setup.

Plans for the car are to have 500rwhp. and running in the 10 second range running with the 6 speed manual transmission. I was wanting to start with the suspension first.

Thanks for any help J.R.

Can never have too much adjustability in a susp set up, so don't think of it as over kill. Think of it as room to grow. BTW there are a ton of people in the 10's on stock susp set up. 500hp will get u in the 10's. GL

Strange shocks are a great choice and we have a whole lot of customers going fast on them, but the Afco shocks are probably the best shock on the market in the price range. Don't be fooled by some "special valving" either... it don't necessarily work for everybody.

We have all the proven working components for your setup and at unbeatable prices. We own and race these cars and have tested several different combinations- right parts the first time and no overkill. Give us a call and we can go over what's right for you.

^^^^ The special valving that guy is refering to is offered by MadMan with the Afco's

If you are thinking about the Afco's get them from MadMan he will help you get your car setup. That's what I have and the customer service they offer is years ahead of this other guy that posted. And it wont take 7 months and 100's of excuses why your order hasn't shipped yet. Not the first time I've seen that guy bash another sponser or customer.

The special valving is the BNC part number. We have them at 299.00 for the DA and 199.00 for the SA. That is the AFCO MAP price.

I would call Madman, he has more than enough cars that he has gathered data off of and worked his program. He will be able to get you to smoking 60' times in a matter of a couple passes. His after the fact service is 2nd to none.

The BNC isn't the Madman specific valving. The specific valving they speak of is only sold through Madman by AFCO Racing products. Just give us a call, we can get you taken care in a timely manner. Not to mention, as said before, you will have our over the phone tech support to get your car dialed in.

The couple extra bucks you spend through a vendor is well worth every penny in setup advice. Does Jegs have a line you can call on how to setup the suspension?

x2 As far as I've ever known, Jegs employees won't give you their cell phone numbers so you can call them at the track when you need help. We do. We also give you baseline settings on where to set your shocks out of the box, and tell you how to adjust them depending on how the car reacts. I keep my phone on me 24/7 and am always happy to help a customer in a bind.

Off topic : I helped a fellow sponsor scale his car a month ago at 10 o'clock at night so he could make it to the track the next day (weekend?). We strive to give the best customer service around, and - IMHO - it's worth paying full price for a set of shocks.
