Default Chromoly Cage Question

Im getting ready to put a 10pt Chromoly cage in my camaro and was wondering if anyone knew about how much weight it adds to your car. Im sitting at 3000 race weight right now with a cheesy steel 4pt.

Thanks,

8pt is all you need to be 8.50 legal. 10pt is just an extra rear x-brace added or a set of bay bars through the firewall, neither of which is required. My 8.50 legal 8pt chromoly kit is 75 pounds, including the 6x6 floor plates. We have the chromoly 8.50 kits in stock and are 575.00. We use only USA made steel.

SS Vert thanks for the info, I might just go with the 8pt then. I really appreciate your input.

Sweet! Jig notched, by chance? How much to ship in the continental US?
Your 8pt kit has the bars that follow the A pillar and attach down by the toe board? I always though that was the 9th and 10th bars over an 8 point that just has the kickers from the main hoop to the drivetrain hump?

8pt(cage or roll bar- and there is a difference) is the a-pillar bars on a full cage/door bars attached to the floor on a roll bar, main hoop, two main bars behind the main hoop, and the two short diagonals that go on the main hoop under the crossbar to the sfc's or tunnel.

A basic 8.50 legal cage does not require the horizontal rocker bar(pending the car is equipped with oem rockers), bay bars through the firewall, or a rear x-brace. The x-brace(or combo of 4 bars behind the hoop) or bay bars are optional and not required.

A 6pt(technically 5pt) roll bar/cage is legal on cars equipped with a full frame(ie Chevelle, Caprice, Monte Carlo, truck). A unibody car is supposed to have the short diagonals on the main hoop, however I have seen 6pt cages certified with only 6 attachment points.

MWC offers excellent fitting roll bar and cage kits for f-body cars at great prices. Notching is an option and we can ship just about anywhere. http://www.midwestchassis.com/roll-b...cessories.html
