Default Pics from the track and broken weld on drag bar

I just got my trans rebuilt and it seem to be pulling much harder than before. On my first pass out I broke the part where my drag bar is welded to the frame. Is it normal for this weld to break? I have and auto and it runs 1.4x-1.5x 60fts on motor. I plan on spraying it soon. I'm going to get someone else to weld it and hopefully it will hold. Is it normal for these welds to break or do you think it was a poor weld?

In the past, my car would pull both wheels about 4" for a second and then drop them. On the first pass out the car launched up high especially on the driver side. It was probably over 2ft and the passenger side was over a foot and it carried it. I pulled into the pits and the drag bar weld to the frame was broke. I decided to just disconnect the bar and run the race without it. I tightened the front shock on the driver side all the way and loosened the passenger side all the way. This helped but it was still pulling the left (not as high as the first run, but still much higher than the passenger) and the passenger not much at all.

Here are pics. All the pics are with the bar disconnected and shocks tightened ds and loosened ps

No doubt that is from a sub-par weld. Not the bar's fault.

It did not break the weld, it tore the metal that it was welded to. I would get a plate or a piece of angle and weld that to the frame rail then weld the drag bar tabs to that. Similar to the plate at the bottom of the roll cage to spread the load out.

1/8" plate welded to stamped sheetmetal....not the best combo. Yes, plate it and spread the load out (be sure to use some plug welds too).
