Default Launch tips for a4's

I've been workin on my launch technique--whats the best way to do it? What rpm do yall rev to before letting off the brakes? Also, do yall go from drive or go 1-2-3? Haven't been to a track yet as there's not any around here (small east texas town), but would still like to perfect my launch As a side note, in case it helps, I am entirely stock (this includes tires) except for the free ram air mod :S Thanks a bunch!! By the way, I'm new here--great site and its already been a huge help just browsing past posts!

Manually shifting is bad for the transmission. Let the computer do the shifting. As for what RPM's to launch at, I think the stock stall is around 1500 rpm's, so stall it up as high as it will go without spinning the tires and when the green light comes on floor it or just slowly ease on the gas pedal out of the hole and floor it. Since you have an automatic transmission I recommend you go with an aftermarket stall converter. Switching to a Vigilante 3200 stall and a pair of Nitto drag radials, I lost 1 full second on my ET. Hope this helps.

You can usually rev it to about 1200rpms, just rev it unit you can feel the rearend load. Leave it in drive. Good luck and Welcome to the board

Leave it in drive. Don't shift it. I usually stall her up to 1400-1450 depending on what the tires will hold.
