Default First time ever at the track

OK, tonight was my first time ever at the track. The best time I got was a 12.82 at 110.29 MPH. My sixty foot time was 2.04 on BFG drag radials. I had no shift light and the stock 3.42 gears. All mods are in my sig. My first question is I got better 60' times when I spun a little bit. A big burnout with a 3000K lauch kind of boged but hooked. A smalle burnout with a 3500K launck and audible wheelspin was the best. I also had two 12.87 runs with missing 4th at 103 MPH. The car is a full weight Firehawk with 50 lbs of books in the back and Spare tire. How are all you M6 guys launching. Also I am getting 410's this week. I noticed that I was just shifting into 4th gear right at the end of the track. How much are the gears going to help? And do you think that with more practice I can dip into the 11's. Also getting LCA brackets at the same time. Can you guys give me any pointers? Also are there such things as a slow track. The week before there was a head cam A4 with nitrus just getting into the 11's. This week I raced a 96 mustang with a 125 shot and he only went 14.10's. Tell me what you uys think.

What is the altitude of the track. That can really change things. It seems like you are trapping a little low. My car make 329 rwhp and traps 110 mph. Your car makes a lot more power so something isn't right. I would invest in a shift light to see where you are shifting. I bet you may be short shifting. The other thing to consider is your clutch, it may be slipping.

I got my new best 60' and ET last night. A friend helped me remove the front sway bar and put some skinnies on. I also took the spare out, 1/4 tank of gas and had nothing in the trunk.

My best 60' was a lame 1.98 on Nitto DRs, but it got me a 12.739 @ 110.63 mph. I did a good burn out and launched at 3K the tires spun a little and hooked. I am learning how the car likes to be launched too. It seems it does a little better with a little wheel spin. If the motor bogs it takes too long to recover.

I would remove your front sway bar and take the spare out and the weight in the trunk. It really seemed to helps the transfer of weight. Plus its less wear and tear on the drivetrain.

The 4.10's should help, but they may kill your 10 bolt.

Good luck..

The best I cut with BFG drag radials with the mods in my sig and with 3.42's was a 1.82 and I ran a 12.19@115.62. You are definately trapping low but like M6HTZ said what was the altitude. Definately get 4.10's.
