Help: Quicker starts? I'm a relatively inexperienced drag racer, (1 year in a real car) and I'm wondering what parts or techniques would drop my 60ft and 1/8. I've got an 02 T/A A4 with a shift kit, she does 13.14 in the 1/4. Like I said my 60ft time is killing me ( don't have a timeslip on hand but I'll post later. All my close races start with me getting burned off the start and then reeling them in, win or not. I just know I could be so much faster if my car would jump off the start more. I would really apreciate the help.
A Yank 3600 stall converter for the transmission along with a fluid cooler and some drag radials. Those are by far the best things you can do for an automatic ls1 car.
Car will leave the line at 3600rpm instead of 1800rpm and the converter will multiply engine torque and reduce bogging when the car shifts.
I'm going to assume you are running 1.9-2.0 60ft on a good day if it's not spinning. With the parts listed above it should go 1.70 60ft. The car should then run around 12.5 in the 1/4.
