Default 2" Kooks headers question

Hey guys don't post on here often put do read a lot on here.

So question looking to upgrade headers when I come home from my deployment soon and have heard a lot of mixed feelings on the 2" kooks and the 1 7/8. Engine is in a 00 SS 3100lbs+- it's an Ls6 FAST 90mm intake and 90mm TPIS throttle body AFR heads t-Rex cam forged bottom end around 11:1 TH400 trans 5200 ati stall and a fab 9 rearend. Currently on the old style slp headers not a fan of them at all and I'd like to get the most power out of the engine I can it isn't driven often on the road so if I can make more power on the high end I'd rather do that it's worth the extra money to me. I've read if your stock cubes not to go with them but also read if your north of 500 that they could help. I'm stock cubes and north of 500 on engine. As of right now car runs a 6.7x in the 1/8th and 10.7x 1/4 mostly race 1/8th though. Gave as much info as I could think of if more is needed let me know ill get back ASAP. Any help would be very much appreciated

That's pretty damn quick for a stock cube motor.
I'd leave the headers alone and spend the $800.00 elsewhere.
Being a 5200 stall, I 'm guessing N/A.
My old 382 had Mac mid-length headers, and I which over to some Edelbrock stepped headers and made no difference in et's.
Although, I do have 2" Kooks on my 418.

1 7/8 would probably be a better match to your current setup, and they will fit without any headaches.

Although many will say 1-7/8 is enough for a stock cube motor. Ill play devils adcocate. I switched from 1-7/8 hookers over to 2" kooks this year and picked up a solid 3mph on motor alone. I was very happy with the kooks. Contact Drew over at kooks if you decide to switch, he'll set you up. Previous mph was 125-126 on a motor tuenup , new best mph was 129.8 leavin soft with nitrous tune up running ngk 10's. Hope this helps

Just curious what would you put the money towards I know the old style slp headers are supposed to be pretty much junk I'm up to other ideas other than headers.

For more on the big end, I'd look into a Super Victor and 4150 TB.

I got the 2" Kooks on my SS right now and all I have done is exhaust, gears and a lid and some suspension for the mostpart. Had a set of pacesetters on before swithching to the Kooks and I could immediatley feel the car pick up alot on a "test drive". When I installed my set I had to take off the oil filter and the small bracket thingy that it attaches to and beat in the trans tunnel a little bit to get the driver side header in.I also had to re-route some of the wiring along the passenger side framerail and wrap them with some heat wrap so they would not burn from the primary tubes. Other than that they slipped right in and I've had no issues. Have yet to get back to the track and see what kind of difference is made.

I have an 02 SS 6-speed car, full weight/AC, stock engine, etc. I did exhaust and intake at same time, so I can't give an exact number, but prior to fast 90/90 and Kooks 2" to 4" mufflex setup, the car trapped 107. After I did that the car trapped 113.5. Also, my gas mileage went up a bit (31.5 MPG on highway )
