Default Cage Rules

I am building an LSx turbo fox and I am getting ready to put the subframe connectors and cage in the car. I have done searches and have seen pictures of people who weld their main hoop of the cage to outriggers ran off of the subframe connectors and then ran the D bars from the main hoop to the connectors.

My question is simple. Is it still going to be NHRA legal for an 8.50 cert if my main hoop is welded to the outrigger instead of to a 6x6 plate. I assume it will be but I wanted to be 100% sure before I started welding it all in place. I will be running a 10 point cage.

Thank you,
Jaime

If it was me I would take the 6x6 plate and poke a hole in it for the main hoop to pass thru then slide the plate down after you have welded the main hoop to the outrigger and weld it to the floor and the main hoop = double strong. Then take the D bars to the subframe connectors. This is legal it is the way my cage is built.

Welding the base of the main hoop to the outrigger is fine. The outrigger must be minimum 2x2 x 058 square. Most outriggers we do or I have seen have been 2x3 and .083 or .095 wall.

Mine are 2"x3" and the hoop sits on it and it has short braces off the hoop going down and inward to the 2"x3" through the floor sub frames.
There are pics in my build thread if you wanna look for them.

Call your local chassis cert guy... look on IHRA/NHRA sites or ask your local track to find their contact info. Its his opinion that maters..
