Turbo Glide or would it be an Over Glide?

Turbo Glide or would it be an Over Glide? I'm just sitting here thinking. I'm wondering if it would be possible to turn a 4l80e into a turbo glide setup and keep the overdrive? It would be the ultimate setup for the dragweek guys or the guys that want to build a very high horsepower(1500+hp) car and still drive on the street some.
You talking making it a 2 speed for track use but a 3rd gear just as an overdrive? I'm sure it can be done, just very expensive. Just got done making a th400 into a 2 speed for my buddies x275 car actually.

yesir. It would technically be a 3 speed, but just 2 gears would be used in the 1/4 mile. Pretty much just a turbo glide with the added overdrive capability. It would be a manual valve body for sure.
I know it would be very expensive and limited market for sure as about the only people who MIGHT even be interested would be the extremists of wanting a 1500+rwhp street car, like the drag week guys and some others.
IF I had the ability to do so I would do it and get a patent. BUT I don't so maybe somebody will get that wild hair.

My car went into limp mode on the starting line one time because I loaded a tune that didn't turn off certain transmission codes. Anyway the car started in second gear, felt a little sluggish out of the hole and then noticed it only shifted once. My ET only dropped .2. I think it would work pretty well for a high horsepower car. I love the 4l80e, one of my favorite mods.

Yeah the high hp cars utilize the higher 1rst gear to help harness the intial shock of the power. Front what I understand the turbo glides are all new and much larger internals than a stock power glide or th400, I could be wrong on this b/c I can't find much information on it out here in the big blue pond(most stuff is blocked). I personally don't need a turbo glide. I MAY in the long off future but no time soon, but I would definitely love to be able to have overdrive with that power.
