Default 60ft seems slow

went to the track and ran a personal best but my 60ft just seems slow to me.....
60ft- 1.715
1/8- 7.62 @ 90 mph
th400, 4.30 gear, 4000 stall tci.
foot braking with a 2 step set at 2000,its hooked to the the brake switch.
I would think it should be in the 1.6s but maybe I'm wrong.

That a hard answer to give without knowing what type and size tires you are running and what type of rear & front shocks , springs ,torque arm , lower control arms , are they stock or aftermarket . There's a lot to factor in to helping getting off the line. Tell us every thing that you have and we can try to narrow down your problem.

Have you tried a higher than a 2k RPM launch? I think that will be necessary. If it causes wheel spin, then those issues can be addressed.

I would start with 2500-3000, working up gradually.

try everything but also consider trying the opposite of this ^ stage closer to or at idle which will allow the stall to "flash" higher and launch more aggressively due to being up in the meat of the powerband more , if this produces wheelspin then address that through tires/suspension... looking at your listed mods and tires you should be able to flash it and dead hook if the suspension is set correctly and the tires aren't old

x2 on turning the 2-step up. N/A setup do seem to like flashing the converter, but it still may want more than 2 grand.

fist time I went to the track it 60ft 2.02 with the 2 step set at 2500, then I lowered it to 2000 and it 60ft 1.86. but last time I was at the track I left the 2 step set at 2000 and went 1.71 60ft ( did gear change and better tuning). so with this new set up should I try to turn the 2 step up? its set as low as it will let me. so if I go any lower it will have to be off idle.

Not sure it's doing any good with a 2-step if it's set that low, might have better results just flashing the converter with the 2-step off.

That's what I'm thinking. I also might think it's loading up the carburetor while sitting there on the 2 step. So that will make it lazy off the line.

I think you need suspension work on the truck. If you can't plant a 2500 footbrake launch. My car can plant a 4000rpm transbrake hit on only a 275 tire.

Technically it should have a faster 60ft time leaving at 2500 rpm rather than 2000rpm right? I only made one pass with it at 2500rpm and it was my first pass ever down the track so I might do more testing at the track with it turned up. Nitrous kit coming soon so the 60ft will be woke up lol

Not always, flashing can get the RPMs up quicke and hit the tires harder. Try it at the lowest rpm you can that still has good throttle response.

try launching at 1500. Anything above that I get spin. That combo should be well in the 1.5x's... What are you rear shocks set at ?

I'll try foot braking that next time. The shocks are set as soft as they go.
