Default Best modifications

Okay guys, I'm curious to what to do next to my 2000 Formula. My sig shows what has been done so far and best mph. I'd like 12s if possible for the least amount of cash possible, and want to stay NA. Also, the car gets driven 350 miles a week on the highway, and since I already have a street/strip car, I'm wondering what would make it faster but still keep it reliable and getting around 20-22 mpg (I'm getting 22-23 now).
Plus i'd like to pay it off first before getting serious in mods (blower/nos, etc.,etc....)
Thanks for any feedback!

Checkout my signature. I have a mod for mod ET listing and dyno chart.

My suggestion. Order a Yank TP-4400 right now!

or since you mention drivability... ST-3500

John, I just read your mods and will say it's very interesting. I have a question. I have a set of ported maf ends on my formula now, and with the timing tricker (jumper wire that adds about 2 degrees of timing?? plugs into the temp sensor from the airbox right??) the car pings on 93 in 2nd gear on the first 3 runs i made with it. Since then I've driven about 600 miles and it still does it on full throttle acceleration in 2nd gear, even with the temp sensor installed in the airbox. Any ideas? should i re-install the stock ends? the ported ones seemed to give me about a tenth quicker et.

With a 2000, you have smaller injectors.

I do not suggest using the !TT on the car all the time. I only use mine at the track. If you get pinging.. take it out.

You may want to look into a MAF translator. With it, you'll be able to "fatten" up you car when it needs it (Florida summer).

What did I tell you Derek? Put a converter in it and be done

As far as your (mine) ported MAF ends, if the car is still pinging, it's probably not going to get any better. We can either put the stock ends back on the car, or I can let you use my MAF translator (it's not even on the car anymore). It only takes a few seconds to plug it in at the track. Hell, if it works out for you, I'll make you a helluva deal on it!

Too bad we couldn't get out tonight because of the rain. I'll be there (Gainesville) next Wednesday, and probably 11/28 as well, since it's the last day the track is open.

Guys, we need to convince Villain281H that his tranny will not blow chunks from installing a converter!

Derek, I think you'll be fine with a somewhat tame converter, just to ensure you don't start having lockup issues during normal driving, and shifting issues at WOT. A fairly mild converter (not in my vocabulary anymore, BTW) should be virtually trouble free.

It's up to you, though..

George,
yeah sucks about the rain and all, it didn't even rain after 5:30 when I got home, the track just said there wasn't any heat in the track due to no sun all day. I won't be at the track next week, but I should be there for the final date on the 28th. Maybe we can try the MAF trans then, and if it doesn't solve the problem, I guess the stock ends will go back in. Oh by the way, I made a few full throttle runs last night on the way home from work, and with the temp sensor back in the air box for normal driving, it still was pinging in 2nd gear.

My continued quest for 12s, maybe next year I'll hit some with a convertor, we'll see

Then I'll dance like this guy

No maybe about it ... I was in the low 13.1xs also. 12's all night the first time with a converter. All I have is a Yank 3000 - got a great deal used - Yank refurbished it and upgraded it to 3200.

As far as drivabilty, the differences from stock are so subtle it took a day before I picked up on them.

Good Luck
