The car is running good and he is on his way back the Pennsylvania. He said he'll be hitting Cecil soon.
Even with the loose converter we were able to make 465 RWHP. This is with 4.30 9" rearend and 28" slicks and a 5000+rpm non lock up stall

WOW! Is this his 396 cid engine? That's some nice power. You KNOW that we'll see some mid-10's out of Tom's car. Hopefully I'll get to meet Tom at the next NFRA event, and I'll have a chance to see that beast run!
Well, at least we'll get some witnesses that you don't cut 1.7 60's on street tires in SoCal.

My best was a 16@70mph or something. If my car gets loose and I let off the gas, I stay off it, unless I have some good reason to risk it. I tried 4-5 times and gave up, I think the track was wet.
Poor Tom with his spool, drag setup, and 28" hooser slicks couldn't make it down the track either.
That's one instance where Nitto's are better. On damp ground they hook much better than street tires. Hell, I've AutoX'd with them in the rain and they hooked pretty good.
Man I really feel sorry for you LA guys. I gotta tell you, that is the worst traction I have ever experienced. Hook half decent for 6 feet and broke traction and the car fell on its nose, let off the pedal, mashed it to the floor, banged 2nd gear and the car went sideways a little. Let off the pedal again and hit 3rd and I couldn't believe the car broke traction again. I just let off the gas at that point and coasted through the traps for an awesome 12.13 at 90 mph. The next run was even worse. Both my 60 foots were 1.7's. I gave Mike the keys to see if he could do any better but he had pretty much the same results. Mike did manage a 1.57 60 but the run was a 12.25 at 110 or something like that. I kinda cringed when I saw my car go sideways a few time while Mike was making the runs.
What the heck did they prep that track with?? ICE??
I just arrived home at 8:30 am PA time. Had great weather the whole trip home.
I had a great time. Thanks everyone.
Hey StumpDust, Take care of Jack. Man that was funny. Derrik, good job man. Mike, thanks for everything.
Tom

Glad to see you made it home....the scary part is...that track hooks better than our other track (Carlsbad)...hehe, we don't have much to work with out here, but nobody knows that...it's too bad they closed Pomona to us.... <img src="images/icons/frown.gif" border="0"> ....good luck with the car...
