Default It happened again.....

I did my usual slam on the gas, (getting use to nittos) and the 1-2 was fine and then I go to hit 3rd at 5000 and its a no go, blocked off once again, I thought that the pro 5.0 was supposed to solve this...I am a good shifter and I know I did not miss the shift because I had a friend in the car to see it...

Now if I remember correctly there was a post on this before, but it went no where....someone was saying how the clutch doesn't disengage completely and that blocks off the gear you want completely...but all the people have only had problems with 3rd gear...can someone help me out on this??? Has anyone had the same problem..

Then to top that off, I decide what the hell I go for it again (1 hour later)...I nail the 1-2 and take 2 all the way to about 5500 and then slam the clutch pedal to the ground as hard as I could and it went into gear fine...

Messed up situation..

Did the 2001 cars get upgraded lines for the clutch hydraulics? I seem to remember reading in Chevy High-Perf. that you could fix this by drilling out the ends of the lines on either the master or slave cylinder for your clutch. The fluid has to rush back & forth very quickly when you speed shift. The lines sometimes don't flow enough fluid in that situation so the clutch doesn't fully disengage on the 2-3 shift if you've shifted hard from 1 to 2.

I feel your pain, I've been able to power shift every manual I've had. Not this thing though, first week I had it I thought it was time to rip one off. Trans. got very pissed at me! Thought it was the shifter, got a Pro 5.0. Guess what still pissed. Changed fluid to synthetic, still pissed. Changed to G.M. Sycromesh on a recomendation, still pissed. I've given up on powershifting the thing, don't want to **** it off too bad!

It's all hand and arm position on these cars. A good aftermarket shifter helps but you have to let the shifter go into positon by itself. When shifting 2-3 I always just use the palm of my hand and just "push" in the direction of third. If you are holding the **** with a closed fist you are going to hit the spot between 1st and 3rd gear. I've seen this over and over again.

I have heard people hitting the middle (between 1st and 3rd....I tried again today and its working you have to seriously ease it into gear, its very tricky to do at 6400 rpms...

When you go to put it in third just kind of slap in in with your palm...works the best...but it doesnt feel as accurate...

I hope someone replies who has done this drill out mod...

Bos,
Here's a topic in the Drivetrain section. Maybe you could page or email him for more details on it. Could run a search at LS1.com or camaro28.com too. I found lots of topics at both places on the drill out mod.
