Trap Speed question
I was looking at some 1/4 times, the ETs are very much the same but the traps were greatly different some may be 7-10MPH faster than a car with a smiliar ET. Why is that?

Re: Trap Speed question
ET is more of a measure of traction, mph is a measure of power to weight ratio. So an automatic tranny car with just bolt ons on slicks might run 12.0@112 and a manual tranny car with ported heads and a bigger cam but on regular street tires might run 12.0@120. The M6 car is definently faster, but it is no quicker. The A4 car would be pulling away for the first half of the race, the M6 would be catching him in the 2nd half.
Manuals tend to have a few more mph of trap speed since they get more horsepower to the ground. Autos with aftermarket torque converters tend to ET better than M6s, because they're easier to hook up.
Basically there is no one answer to your question, there are lots of different combinations to get a certain ET, either concentrating on traction with suspension mods, gears, slicks, torque converters, etc or by just powering your way to that ET with nitrous, ported heads, bigger cams, blowers, turbos etc. If you choose to just add power, you'll have a much higher trap speed than the guy who went with suspension mods instead.
